Kumarakom is a cute little tourist destination in Kerala located along the Vembanad lake. What is really magical about this place is the mind-blowing beauty nature has endowed on it. Throughout Kumarakom village there are numerous canals that criss-cross each other, all joining the Vembanad lake eventually. At some places the canals pass through lush-green paddy fields with coconut trees on the sides. The canals get really narrow at some points but the skilled boat operators are somehow able to manouver through them.
This sleepy little village has perhaps some of the best backwater resorts in India. Many of them are right on the banks of the Vembanad lake and that gives the guests at the resorts a panoramic view of this beautiful lake. Most of the resorts are accessible from the lake, so if you're reaching Kumarakom by boat from some other place, you can get your boat to check in straight at the resort. The resorts also have tieups with boat operators so if you want to go cruising on the backwaters or even on the village canals, your starting point can be the resort jetty itself.

ReplyDeleteI stayed with my family at Kumarakom Lake Resort. Loved the ambience there. I have travelled across Kerala and found this to be one of the most charming Kerala Hotels. Interesting designs and good seafood cuisine. And I just spent one day and night in Kerala Houseboat. Really, Wonderful experience, in God's Own Counrty.
